My name is Bret Wier and I am running for Colfax County Commissioner because I enjoy serving others. I learned this passion for service in Rotary where the moto is “Service Above Self”. Since joining Rotary I have served as a Cub Master, a Basketball Coach and I’ve been on several community boards including the Cimarron Municipal School Board where I have been an officer for 6 of my 7 years including two years as President.
As your Commissioner I will focus on three things. First and foremost, I will be working on projects and strategies to grow our economy. This will include things like developing community revolving funds to help our businesses recover from the COVID-19 shutdown.
Secondly, I will work with nonprofits to expand services for our county. This will include reliable transportation and support for our elderly as well as quality housing for our workforce.
My third area of focus will be technology. I have 27 years’ experience in the accounting technology industry and I will use that experience to improve the technology used by the county. A key area of technology improvement will be communication with the public. I will volunteer to help manage the County website to make sure that everyone is aware of what is going on.
If elected I will put in the time needed to assure that the constituents of District 3 are represented in the County and State. I will spend at least one day a month in each municipality talking to the residents to understand their needs. I will attend at last one Village meeting a month so that I can communicate with Village leaders. My motto is Your Voice is My Action and I will always want your input.
